Handbell concert at St Noel
St. Noel Church is pleased to present handbell solo artist: Michèle Sharik in Concert on Friday June 20, 2008, at 7:00 PM at St. Noel Church, 35200 Chardon Road, Willoughby Hills, Ohio 44094. The concert will feature works by Grieg, Schubert, Sibelius, Fauré, Handel, and others. The concert is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken.
Michèle Sharik is recognized both nationally and internationally for
her expertise in the art of handbell ringing. She has toured throughout the
United States, as well as in Canada, England, Scotland, Japan, and Hong Kong.
She has served as clinician for numerous American Guild of English Handbell
Ringers (AGEHR) events and she has several handbell works in publication.
In addition to solo ringing, Michèle is a member of the internationally
acclaimed handbell ensemble, Sonos, and she serves as Director of Handbells
for two San Francisco Bay area churches.
The Saint Noel Concert Series is dedicated to offering outstanding quality musical performances to the public in an intimate atmosphere completely free of charge. Performers in addition to the ensembles of the St. Noel Music Ministry have included members of The Cleveland Orchestra, RED, Opera Cleveland Orchestra, Apollo’s Fire, Ohio Chamber Orchestra and others; CityMusic Cleveland; faculty of Baldwin-Wallace College, Western Reserve Academy, and The Cleveland Music School Settlement; The Renaissance Ringers; The Ohio Boychoir, and alumni from the Cleveland Institute of Music. Most concerts are designated as benefit concerts and a free-will offering is taken to benefit a local charitable organization. Past beneficiaries have included Womankind of Greater Cleveland, Project Hope for the Homeless, WSEM Food Center @ Community Corner, and the St. Augustine Hunger Center. All concerts are free of charge, family friendly and open to the public.

Scot Buzza has had an international performing career over
the past two decades that includes solo appearances with orchestras in Austria,
Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland
and Venezuela. In 1987 he was appointed principal violist of the Tokyo Philharmonic,
and in 1990 he became soloist-principal violist of the Chamber Orchestra of
Barcelona, Spain. As a chamber musician Mr. Buzza has performed world wide,
and his recitals have been broadcast on Radio France, PBS, Radio Amsterdam,
Tokyo NHK and Radio Catalunya (Spain). In the United States he has performed
regularly with both the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and the Cincinnati Symphony
Orchestra.
Mezzo-soprano Fenlon Lamb consistently garners critical acclaim
for her “dynamic, rich vocal sound” and “polished acting abilities.”
For example, her role debut of Rosina (Barbiere di Siviglia) with Sacramento
Opera received critical rave: “…every inch the saucy rebel [who]
navigated the highly ornamented passages with creamy ease.” The Baltimore
Sun applauded her Agrippina: “In the title role, Fenlon Lamb revealed
a bright, flexible voice, ever-brilliant phrasing and theatrical flourish.”
This season Ms. Lamb will make her Seattle Opera debut and returns to Sacramento
Opera. Previous engagements have included a concert tour in Asia and appearances
with the Mississippi and Granite State Opera companies, Opera Vivente, Opera
Grand Rapids and Opera Cleveland, Lyric Opera Cleveland, the Cleveland Orchestra,
Apollo’s Fire, as well as the Hartford, Toledo, Akron, Loyola, Santa Cruz
Symphony Orchestras.
Andrea McAlister is Assistant Professor of Piano Pedagogy at
the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. She previously taught at Capital University,
Ohio Wesleyan University and the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory
of Music where she also received her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Piano Performance
and Pedagogy. As a performer, Dr. McAlister has appeared in festivals and recitals
throughout the United States and Canada, including performances at the Aspen
Music Festival, the Rome Festival, and, locally, the Cleveland Chamber Symphony
and Opera Cleveland on Tour.

Composed of undergraduates from all academic areas of the university, the
Kentucky State University Concert Choir is a well-rounded, diverse organization
that upholds the highest standards in performance as well as academics. The
choir tours annually throughout the United States and has performed with several
major orchestras. Frequently, the choir appears at music workshops, seminars
and professional conventions including the Southern and National Divisions
of the American Choral Directors Association, and the Music Educators National
Convention. The choir also participates in several choral competitions and
most recently received the top rating in the HBCU (Historic Black College)
competition.

The St Ignatius High School Chorus, under the direction of Jason Falkofsky, is an 60-member male vocal ensemble specializing in choral music of the male glee club tradition. The ensemble consists of members from all four grade levels, including National Merit Scholars, varsity athletes, and student government leaders. The Chorus participated in the 2006 Heritage Festival in Chicago, their first foray into festival competition, garnering four trophies, including the Sweepstakes and Adjudicators trophies, the Outstanding Choral Group in the Festival trophy, as well as a first place ranking. In April 2007, the ensemble participated in the National Invitational Choral Festival in NYC.

reforms of the Second Vatican

Joanne Uniatowski, Lecturer in Voice, holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from The Cleveland Institute of Music where she studied with George Vassos. She received a Master of Music degree from the University of Alabama and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Akron. She also holds a language diploma from Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. Dr. Uniatowski has performed operatic roles with Lyric Opera Cleveland, Cleveland Concert Opera and Opera Circle. Equally at home as a soloist, Dr. Uniatowski has performed with The Cleveland Orchestra Educational Programs, Mansfield Symphony, PAND (Cleveland), Suburban Symphony, The Singer's Club of Cleveland, Choral Arts Society, Heights Chamber Orchestra, University Circle Choral and various local choral organizations including Chagrin Valley Choral Union and Medina County Chorus. Dr. Uniatowski also taught at Ashland University and The Cleveland Institute of Music. She is Executive Director of the Art Song Festival at Baldwin-Wallace College (formerly the Cleveland Institute of Music Art Song Festival). Joanne is a cantor/soloist at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Cleveland and has conducted numerous workshops on "Cantoring" around the Diocese of Cleveland.
Jason Lorenzon, CAGO, ARCT, B Mus., B.A., MM, JD is Director of Music Ministry of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Director of Music for Hudson Community Chorus. He has a Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Performance with distinction from the University of Western Ontario, Master of Music Degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music and a law degree from the Cleveland Marshall College of Law. He has given many concerts across the United States, Canada and Europe and he is a regular contributor the Pastoral Musician Magazine and serves on the NPM National Committee for Organists.
Rev. David. R. Trask, Fr. Trask was named Pastor of OLG on May 1, 2000. Before coming to OLG, he served as Associate Pastor in four other parishes:1986-1991: Ss. Cosmas & Damian (Twinsburg). 1991-1996: Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist (Cleveland) 1996-1997: Church of St. Peter (North Ridgeville), and;1997-2000: Church of St. John Neumann (Strongsville) Fr. Trask grew up in South Euclid as a parishioner of the Church of St. Gregory the Great. He attended elementary school at St. Gregory's and is a 1977 graduate of St. Joseph High School. He attended Borromeo Seminary College, where he earned a BA in US History. He studied for the priesthood at Cleveland's St. Mary Seminary and was ordained a priest of the Diocese of Cleveland on June 7, 1986.

2007 Christmas Concert Series
Only once each year does the opportunity come along to celebrate the birth of our King, Jesus Christ. Christian recording artist and singer/songwriter, Raine Austen, spent many years in Nashville pursuing a long-lived career in the music business. Raine has been celebrating the Christmas season with music and concerts.
This year multiple concerts have been scheduled, which includes the Hanna Theatre on December 10 & 11. Auditions are being scheduled for singers who are semi-professional to professional talent. Song repertoire will include music from Avalon, Point of Grace, and the like, as well, a touch of classical. These concerts are faith based lyrically and are performed from a Christian-Catholic perspective. Rehearsals will fluctuate between Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays until the concert season begins in December. Singers must be able to read print music to follow along with the Music Director – sight singing is not necessary. Stage presence is a must.

From the sublime
motet, Jesu Meine Freude, by Johann Sebastian Bach, to a poignant setting of
Christina Rosetti’s poem, “Remember,” to a reassuring collection of African-American
spirituals, the Birmingham-First Chamber Choir (Birmingham MI) promises an afternoon
of uplifting sounds for the soul. Under the direction of former Clevelander,
Tom Trenney, the Birmingham-First Chamber Choir is composed of 24 of the finest
choral voices from across the Detroit Metro Area.
Erik Mann heads the guitar department at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, where he teaches majors in Classical Guitar Performance and Music Education. Erik also serves as adjunct professor of Guitar Literature and Guitar Pedagogy at the Cleveland Institute of Music under department head Jason Vieaux, and teaches for the Cleveland Music School Settlement. During the summer, he teaches for the music department of the Pennsylvania Governor’s School of the Arts which draws the most talented high school students from around the state of Pennsylvania. He has also served on the faculty of Case Western Reserve University, Mercyhurst College, and Towson University. Erik received his Bachelors Degree from Towson University and his Masters Degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music. He has studied with Jason Vieaux, John Holmquist, and Ronald Pearl, and his master class performance experience includes: David Russell, The Assads, The Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, The Brazilian Guitar Quartet, and many others. An active member of his community, Erik serves as a board member of the Greater Cleveland Classical Guitar Society and develops and implements outreach programs to help raise interest in classical music. Linda White leads an active musical life as both teacher and performer. Ms. White is on the faculty for The Cleveland Music School Settlement, The Cleveland Institute of Music Preparatory Department, and the Cleveland School of the Arts. At The Cleveland Music School Settlement, in addition to teaching flute, she coordinates a program for adult amateur musicians to gather and play chamber music. Linda is a member of the Trinity Chamber Orchestra, and often performs with the ensemble as a featured soloist as well as within the orchestra. She has performed with the Cleveland Pops Orchestra, Cleveland Opera Orchestra, New World Symphony, Ohio Chamber Orchestra, Canton Symphony, and ProMusica Chamber Orchestra of Columbus. She received a Master of Music from the Cleveland Institute of Music as a student of Jeffrey Khaner, and a Bachelor of the Arts from the University of Wyoming, where she studied with Katherine Kemler. An active chamber musician and champion of contemporary music, she regularly works with several Cleveland area composers and performs their pieces at many venues throughout the Great Lakes region.

many talented singers. A Free will offering will be taken.
On Tuesday, March 27, John will offer a mission night entitled "What are

Baroque. Formed in early 2006 by director, Debra Nagy, the ensemble debuted
with several well-received recitals in Cleveland and is launching an Ohio tour
for 2007. One of the few outstanding baroque oboists in the U.S., Debra is in
demand across the country as a soloist and chamber musician and was the First
Prize winner of the 2002 American Bach Soloists Young Artists Competition. She
is joined by acclaimed harpsichordist Lisa Goode Crawford, violinist Scott Metcalfe,
and viola da gamba virtuoso Emily Walhout.

A concert featuring the St. Noel Chamber Singers and baritone soloist Marc Weagraff will be held on Sunday, September 10, 2006 at 4:00 PM at St. Noel Church located at 35200 Chardon Rd. in Willoughby Hills. The program will feature the Five Mystical Songs by Ralph Vaughan Williams as well as classics of the sacred choral repertoire, contemporary pieces, original compositions, hymn tunes, and vocal jazz. The concert, which is part of the St. Noel Concert Series, is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken to benefit the St. Noel Music Ministry Pilgrimage Fund.
The Saint Noel Chamber Singers is a 20-voice choir comprised of members of the St. Noel Music Ministry and other members of the community. In addition to providing music at occasional weekend liturgies and major church feasts, they perform throughout the greater Cleveland area for fund-raising and charity events. Their repertoire is primarily sacred but includes music of virtually every time period and genre from Baroque to jazz. The group is under the direction of Dr. Marc Weagraff, Director of Music Ministries at St. Noel Church.
Marc Weagraff, baritone, holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Michigan where he studied with Lorna Haywood. He received his Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees from The Cleveland Institute of Music where he received the undergraduate valedictory prize and was twice awarded the Boris Goldovsky Prize for excellence in an operatic production. He is currently the Director of Music Ministries at St. Noel Church in Willoughby Hills, Ohio and also is on the voice faculty at Baldwin-Wallace College. Dr. Weagraff’s opera credits include roles with Michigan Opera Works, Opera Circle, Lyric Opera Cleveland, Cleveland Concert Opera, The University of Michigan, The U. of M. Gilbert and Sullivan Society, The Cleveland Institute of Music and The Utah Opera Company in Salt Lake City, UT as well as numerous performances in summer musical theater programs. Several of his performances were heard in live broadcast over WCLV and KBYU radio. Equally at home with oratorio repertoire, he has performed as soloist with the internationally renowned University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club, The Utah Symphony educational series, The Chagrin Valley Choral Union, and The Medina County Choral Union. As a recitalist he has been heard throughout the region including various church concert series and as a guest artist at Cleveland State University. He is originally from Saegertown, PA and currently resides in Painesville Twp., OH.
The Saint Noel Concert Series is dedicated to offering outstanding quality musical performances to the public in an intimate atmosphere completely free of charge. Performers in addition to the ensembles of the St. Noel Music Ministry have included Cleveland Orchestra members, faculty of Baldwin-Wallace College, Western Reserve Academy, and The Cleveland Music School Settlement, the Ohio Boychoir, and alumni from the Cleveland Institute of Music. We are pleased to be welcoming CityMusic Cleveland to our roster this fall. Most concerts are designated as benefit concerts and a free-will offering is taken to benefit a local charitable organization. Past beneficiaries have included Womankind of Greater Cleveland, Crossroads of Lake County, Project Hope for the Homeless and the St. Augustine Hunger Center. All concerts are free of charge, family friendly and open to the public.

The Voices of Canton have been in existence for over 65 years. They have sung
five international tours in Europe and Canada, the last one taking place in
Italy in 2004 where they performed for CorofestUmbria, The Assisi Music Festival,
The Gubbio Festival, The International Choir Festival and in Rome at the Basilica,
Santa Maria Maggiore.
